Ben McCollum on how he thinks prospective high school and portal players will perceive Iowa, considering what the program is accomplishing this season: “If you’re a tough dude, this is a good spot for you. If you’re soft and you like yourself way too much, this is probably not the spot for you. We just try to recruit tough dudes that want to be part of something bigger than themselves, and hopefully people see that.”

5 things coaches don’t like: 1. Excuses. 2. Entitlement. 3. Anti-team behavior. 4. Poor body language. 5. Blaming refs and teammates. Coaches can handle mistakes. They can’t handle losing mindsets.

Kelvin Sampson: “I like the fact that Kingston thought it was pretty cool his name’s up there. Kid is gonna be a top 10 draft pick & he’s so naive. I mean he really is naive, but that’s part of what makes Kingston special. He has no ego, Chris has no ego, none of our kids have egos. I knocked the ego out of them early, not literally (laughter), but the strength of our program is we play for each other & our program is more important than any individual & that includes me”

The 9th grade finished off a successful season tonight in winning on the road vs Edlam rival Edmond North. 10-5 on the year w/lots of growth...both as young men and in this game of basketball. Congrats @QWells35 on a fine season! We look forward to these Dogs in future years!
