On February 28, 2026, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia, Greek and HBCU communities began grieving the loss of Dr. Taylar Williams, a devoted wife, mother of four, educator and former Miss Albany State whose light reached far beyond any classroom. In her 32 years she poured herself into Black children, Black families and Black institutions, proving every day that our communities deserve safety, joy and excellence. We extend our deepest condolences to her husband, children, loved ones, students and colleagues, and we stand with all who are mourning her – committed to honoring her legacy with the same courage, brilliance and service she gave to us. At this time, the cause of her death has not been publicly disclosed.
