As an AD, my job is to bring in and retain coaches who can build, develop, and win. At the same time, good coaches want to be in environments where they have a real opportunity to succeed. If a school’s vision does not prioritize winning or fails to provide the tools, support, and structure needed for success, it will struggle to attract and retain high level coaches. Talented coaches are intentional about where they invest their time and energy. Winning is not about cutting corners or doing it at all costs. It is about alignment. When you have strong coaches, the right resources, and a clear commitment to success, those pieces work together. When everyone is not aligned, the culture is poisoned. That alignment is what builds a sustainable, competitive program.

Sat in a recruiting meeting once where the conversation about a kid lasted 45 seconds. His film was good. His measurables checked every box. His grades were fine. The position coach put his name up, two assistants said "I have heard he is a problem," and the head coach said move on. 45 seconds. That kid never knew why the offer he expected never came. He spent his whole senior year wondering what happened. Coaches are not just building rosters. They are building locker rooms. Every offer is a bet on who you are as a person, not just as a player. Act accordingly.

@Coach_Ronacher Happens too much. That’s why we only going to camps that respond or reach out. Tough pill to swallow especially when some schools are a lot closer but got to go where you are wanted.

Sent a college coach our guys who can play at a high level. No response, so I followed up…a few times. He replied with just a summer camp graphic-no words. If you can’t take time to acknowledge our kids, hard to believe they’ll get a real shot with 100s others there. We’ll pass.

I'm going to get myself into trouble here🙃 Some of y'all need to spend less time on your eighth 7-on-7 tournament of the month and visits to schools that will never recruit you, and instead get some combine training and hit up (reputable) exposure camps🤷‍♂️

A couple highlights: Hunt edge rusher @therandyjamess jumped 28.5 inches and put up a laser-timed 4.60 40 Lakewood RB/LB @calvin_lacewell jumped 27.2 inches and completed 28 185-pound bench reps, by far the best among non-linemen
