Ex US Army Captain Marcus Plunkett, who served in Afghanistan, came through a 36 hole qualifier to make it to The Open, his major debut. Now after rounds of 70 and 71 he is currently inside the projected cut line. After the round, he explained his love of golf: “I grew up playing it as a kid. It's one of the few things that I found that makes me feel alive. When I'm playing competitive golf, especially here at The Open, I am right there in the moment. “I think that's what keeps calling me back to try to get better every day.” This is an exceptional performance from Marcus in his first major.
