Asking for a friend, is the state football tournament supposed to be the best 8 teams in the state? Looking at 5A football and especially the Elk River-Washburn game?!?!?

@EricKraushar Yes I can. Teams from Chaska and Chan play at Alexandria and Rochester. So the State Champion of 5A is only the best of what is left, not the best of the best is what you’re saying.

@Coach_Jeppson 6A can be run differently because it's mostly metro sans Moorhead Can you imagine the statewide driving in 5A? From Rochester to Bemidji to Duluth to Mankato and everywhere in between

@Coach_Jeppson It's never been about having the best eight teams in state. The MSHSL has told us so multiple times. Section 6 was painful in 5A. Section 1 was weak, too, but Mayo gave STA all they could handle
