Yes, witnessed this plenty - AND stop yelling out calls period at any levels. Half the parents don’t even know the rules. Just try to enjoy young people developing a passion for a great game and learning some things about teamwork, life, and competition.

The best player on a team isn’t always the player who scores the most. Sometimes it’s the player who has a high IQ or a diverse/versatile skill set or a player who is unselfish & coachable or who knows their role inside & out. Basing “good” only on points scored is a big mistake!

@TweetsbyCoachP Correcting the entire problem at a mass level is impossible - all we can do now is try to point parents and their children to the right leaders of programs and great coaches.

I firmly believe, many, if not most, have lost sight of the foundational purpose of athletic and sport participation. Specifically at the youth levels. I am not sure what, if anything at this point, can be done to improve or correct that, but it’s glaringly obvious.

It’s that time of year!! Parents, especially the ones with younger age players, trying to decide what program to play for: I could give you a million things to look for but never forget this one……YOU get what you pay for! Programs that cost nothing or next to nothing are sometimes really shiny cause of that low fee, however most times if you pay budget prices you get the budget model! Do not skimp out on your kids experience for minimal savings. A lot of the higher priced programs will offer some kind of help if you ask!
