@MrPatMineo The more I watch this, the worse it gets. The reaction time crowd for this one should go back and count seconds. In one video, Robideau is on his hip in the cradle from the :05-:08 mark (of the video) without coming off it. How much reaction time are you people arguing for?

@WCMLPodcast Davino was definitely the right guy to win in that match and I would have been fine with them calling it, but there are plenty of similar situations where that’s not a takedown. It’s not unusual on a single for guys to touch the far ankle but not be able to control it & be no TD
English

@johnnidijulius Funnily enough, the old hand rear-standing hand touch takedown, while it negated legit granby situations, would have been appropriate here as it’s clear Welch wasn’t working out of it.
English

Do you guys think this is this just an edge case where reaction time works majority of the time but when it goes bad, it’s BAD…or is this a perverse outcome to the rule where reaction time intended to improve the sport, created new problems we didn’t realize we’d have?

30 seconds that should reshape what Folkstyle wrestling defines as a takedown. It shouldn’t be hard to understand that the offensive wrestler in this position should be rewarded for his efforts. If the officials continue to protect the defensive wrestler, we will continue to see less and less offense. What would you rather see? A shootout or a match decided in tiebreakers because of riding time? I know my pick.
English

@EricOlanowski No, I’m literally talking about right before this restart. Block was on his knees out of bounds from :25 to :15 left in the 3rd with no attempt to engage or circle in.
English

@Coach_Shrubbery Not remotely close to what actually happened. What you’re talking about was earlier in the match when he thought he had a takedown and was pleading to Brands to throw the brick.
English

Death. Taxes. And @ShaneSparksBTN bringing up Sammy Brooks mullet at Big Tens 😂
English

@MatScouts1 @adamtirapelle is this the kind of situation you were talking about the other day? Lol
English

Sometimes I get randomly sad that @drmccutcheon_dc never All-American-ed
English

@adamtirapelle I like the idea here in theory but can you share some examples of the type of specific situations you have in mind?
English

I can think of at least 10 situations in folkstyle that if we started calling "control" instead of "stalemate" or "potentially dangerous," we'd have more scoring and you would reward offense, thus seeing more offensive attacks.
Right now, it's an all-or-nothing game. If you don't gain 100% control beyond any shadow of a doubt, you score zero. If we started liberalizing what control is and awarding points easier and forcing the defensive guy to show that he's not in control vs. the offensive guy to demonstrate he's completely in control, we would see more activity. It would be a big change for folkstyle wrestling. And I think a lot of people would hate it initially. Just like we all hated the freestyle rules as they changed. But as we got used to new definitions, it would make for a better product

When I coached high school wrestling, every standout football player that made the local media would be listed in an article at like 212 pounds, then come in that same night to our match and weigh in for 195 with room to spare

@CPyles8 @FloWrestling Thanks for the follow up. I’ll take a look!
English

@Coach_Shrubbery @FloWrestling Totatlly get it. I know this is coming very soon to the app where you can get alerts by team so you dont have to select individuals.
For now, you can actually add them by team if you use web.

English

@FloWrestling it would be nice if your app would let me scroll past the first few weights

This reminds me so much of PSU wrestling. Cael Sanderson took Iowa State to 3rd at NCAAs while PSU wasn’t top 10, but he saw the potential for PSU to be elite and within 2 years PSU started winning national titles ever year.

Penn State is a much better job than Indiana I’m not saying Cignetti will definitely leave but hard to argue Penn State isn’t a much better long term job
