In 2023, it was FOUR HUNDRED PERCENT more likely for a fired white coach to get replaced by a white coach than it was for a fired black coach to get replaced by a black coach. 400% is not a # to just brush aside! 🙏🙏 I hope AD’s and search firms do some serious soul searching.

Rick Barnes was very blunt about how recruiting is easier now, for him, compared to the past. “I love coaching” “It’s easier today than it was back then because today, it’s easy. You can recruit a guy for a week and get him. You know what I mean? ‘Hey, what’s your number’?

Note: When coaches have a bad AD and have options they will pivot and move. Athletic Directors have incredibly tough job of actually having to do their job today, raise money. If they can’t they will move to next spot and next spot before anyone realizes they can’t.
