To clarify 😂 when I say pillar I’m talking about a normal straight strike for pass pro, no undertook or clamp or independent. Just a double hand strike. When I see people do a bad drill where you set then strike they always turn their shoulder doing double strike

🚨🚨OL QUESTION When teaching the pillar strike in pass pro, what’s your coaching cues for not tying the inside shoulder. When I see people do drills with bags they always seem to be turning upper body and it doesn’t sit right with me. Would love to hear.

@TBlazer5AS1 😂 yeah it a TOS thing too but I sometimes use it for just basic double hand straight strike instead of Independent 😂

Question: TF is a “pillar” strike

@surgicaldamage Yeah I’m a IH guy all day, but knowing how and when to do pillar changes the picture for DL

@CoachjakeOL You fight by throwing one punch at a time. Try and throw a double punch see how you look in the mirror how many open shots you leave yourself to. Cleveland ol Joe Thomas stated that in a video

@MitchSchwartz71 That I agree with 100%% the rivals clips post my biggest pet peeve in just throwing a guy back and down in pass pro. I was agreeing with you on the original though. Not seeing the movement was my first thought.

Agreed, not saying it can’t. As always, if we’re going to prop up the position we need to do it the right way. This is like those high school 1 on 1s where they toss the DL into the pad and think they’re doing something good. Can’t use it as a showcase rep for the OL and the kid he’s going against deserves better too

He barely gets any movement after contact, then his feet end up back where they started as he gets pushed into the hole, and then he gets a holding call if the RB is pressing it front side. Why are we glorifying dumb reps like this?
