From 2–1A Kansas football to FBS co-defensive coordinator. 🔥 Entering his fourth year at Eastern Michigan University, Tate Omli continues to climb, now serving as Safeties Coach & recently promoted to Co-Defensive Coordinator. A Brookville, Kansas native and Ell-Saline HS alumni, Omli’s journey started right here. 🏈 Kansas-built path Multiple sport all-state athlete at Ell-Saline (now an 8 man team) Player at Butler Community College (2nd Team NJCAA All-American) Finished playing career at University of Northern Iowa Defensive Coordinator at Hutchinson Community College (28-3 record, multiple league titles, NJCAA National Championship) 📈 Impact at EMU Omli’s safeties have been difference-makers, highlighted by Bryce Llewellyn’s All-MAC season (103 tackles, 2 INTs), EMU’s first all-conference DB since 2020. Multiple defenders posted career years under his watch. 🌾 Kansas pipeline One thing that hasn’t changed, Omli continues to recruit and trust Kansas talent, developing players at every stop along the way. Coach White brings along a resume of incredible experience that cannot be beat. Here are some highlights of his career⬇️ 𝐀𝐒 𝐀 𝐂𝐎𝐀𝐂𝐇: - 2025: Assistant Running Backs Coach at the University of Illinois - 2024: Player Personnel at Northern Illinois University 𝐀𝐒 𝐀 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑: 𝑵𝑭𝑳 𝑪𝑨𝑹𝑬𝑬𝑹: - 8-Year NFL Career as a running back, all with the New England Patriots, being named a Captain for four consecutive seasons from 2018-2022. - 3x Super Bowl Champion in 2014, 2016 and 2018 with the New England Patriots under Head Coach Bill Belichick, where he played in 95 games and ran for 3,278 yards and scored 25 touchdowns, also helping the Patriots to 6 Division Titles. - One of White’s best games of his NFL career came in New England’s historic Super Bowl LI win when the Patriots trailed Atlanta, 28-3, and came back to win, 34-28, in overtime. White accounted for 139 total yards, including a Super Bowl-record 14 receptions for 110 receiving yards, and scored three touchdowns. His 1-yard touchdown run with 0:57 left in regulation helped the Patriots tie the game before his 2-yard run in overtime was the game-winner. He set the record for most points scored by a player in a single Super Bowl (20). 𝑪𝑶𝑳𝑳𝑬𝑮𝑬 𝑪𝑨𝑹𝑬𝑬𝑹: - Played at the University of Wisconsin from 2010-2013 under Head Coach Bret Bielema, who is now the current Head Coach at the University of Illinois. - James starred for the Badgers, helping them to 3 Big Ten Titles and 3 Trips to the Rose Bowl. - 2010 Big Ten Freshman of the Year. - Ran for 4,015 yards and scored 48 touchdowns as a Badger, ranking fourth in school history in rushing yards and third in total touchdowns as well as setting the Wisconsin record for receiving yards by a running back with 670 for his career. White finished his career ranked No. 4 all-time at Wisconsin with 5,450 all-purpose yards. Coach White, we are extremely grateful to have you become a huge part of Redwing Nation!
