@foodworldzone @Opresii Visa free doesn’t mean they just pick their bags and enter the country. It simply means they would not pay for visa fee but would go through the normal process. You people should learn ah😪

I strongly disagree with the idea of a borderless Africa because it does not benefit struggling economies like Ghana, which is still recovering from serious economic problems. Although borderless Africa sounds good and promotes visa free movement, the reality will be very different. It will encourage mass migration into countries that seem more stable, putting pressure on jobs, housing, security, and social services. We have seen similar situations elsewhere. When the United States relaxed its borders, parts of Texas experienced major migration challenges, forcing authorities to step in to control the situation. In Ghana already, there is a growing influx of people from Nigeria, Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, and other neighboring countries. Many end up hustling on the streets or begging, which increases the burden on the system. There is also a trend where some Nigerians promote Ghana as a survival destination, encouraging others to move in without realistic expectations. The disadvantages clearly outweigh the advantages. The growing Nigerian influence in countries like Ghana, South Africa, and Kenya threatens social balance and could weaken these countries in the long run. Africa should first focus on fixing its internal problems. We need better air routes between African countries, reduced poverty, improved education, stable economies, and decent jobs for millions of young Africans who are currently struggling. Even when Dr Kwame Nkrumah pushed for African unity, borderless Africa was not part of the plan. Unity was about cooperation, not uncontrolled movement. If this policy becomes reality, it will cause serious problems. Africans should stay and help build their own countries. Those who wish to travel should follow the proper process and return home. Borderless Africa is a bad idea. This agenda by you and Sarkodie should stop now.
Wode Maya ®@wode_maya

A borderless Africa doesn’t mean our borders should be scrapped; it means they should not restrict movement within Africa through visa requirements.

HIGHLIGHTS: STATE OF THE REGION ADDRESS - ASHANTI 2026, First Quarter in Pespective What to Expect in the First Quarter of the Year 2026! The first quarter of the year marks a decisive transition from stabilization to accelerated delivery. Having laid a solid foundation in the previous year, our focus now shifts firmly to implementation, expansion, and visible progress across the region. Under the leadership of H.E John Dramani Mahama, with Ashanti Region at heart and determined to create a vibrant economic hub for the country and sub region, these are the key priorities for the First Quarter In this quarter, Government will concentrate on four core actions: 1. Cutting sod for new projects 2. Awarding additional projects 3. Commencing construction on newly awarded projects 4. Continuing and completing ongoing legacy projects Cutting Sod for New Projects A major highlight of the quarter will be the commencement of a significant number of new developments across all districts. This includes the cutting of sod for some seventy-seven (77) GETFund projects and over three hundred (300) District Assemblies Common Fund projects, strategically distributed to address critical infrastructure gaps in education, health, and local development. Big Push Road Infrastructure Programme We shall also cut sod for key flagship road projects under the Big Push initiative, including: • Outer Kumasi Ring Road • Ahodwo–Santasi Dualisation • Accra–Kumasi Expressway • Agogo–Maame Krobo Road, spanning approximately 124 kilometres • Selected town roads across priority urban and peri-urban areas These projects are designed to improve mobility, reduce travel time, enhance safety, and unlock economic activity across the Ashanti Region and beyond. Context, Our First Year of Work The year 2025 was deliberately dedicated to addressing legacy challenges. It focused on stalled and abandoned projects, as well as securing sustainable funding for their completion under the 2026 Budget. Key legacy and priority projects addressed and ongoing include the VAMED Hospitals, Agenda 111 Hospitals, Suame Interchange, Sewua Hospital, Afari Hospital, KNUST Medical Centre, Krofrom Market, Kejetia Market Phase 2, Phase 4 of the Prempeh I international airpor, and the KATH Maternity Block. Emergency and Rapid-Response Interventions Alongside legacy works, Government executed critical emergency interventions to protect lives and restore connectivity. These included the Kaase Bridge, Kotokuom Bridge, Jacobu Bridge, and the Airport Roundabout Kumasi. In addition, several town roads were completed or advanced in areas such as Kwabre East, Offinso–Barekese Road, and Manhyia North. Looking Ahead While addressing immediate challenges, Government simultaneously invested time and effort in, planning, and awarding new projects under the 2026 Budget framework. The result is a strong pipeline of funded projects now ready for execution. The first quarter therefore represents the beginning of large-scale, coordinated delivery. Our commitment remains clear, to translate plans into action, budgets into projects, and projects into tangible improvements in the lives of our people.
