Zambia removes excise duty and zero rates VAT on petrol and diesel for 3 months as a measure to cushion consumers. In Zambia, 1 litre of petrol and diesel has now increased to US$1.42 and US$1.56 respectively. This makes Zimbabwe’s fuel over half a dollar more expensive than Zambia’s fuel. Meanwhile Zimbabwe has not done anything to cushion consumers from the high fuel prices which are selling at above $2 a litre. South Africa is also reducing duties and taxes to cushion South Africans.
