I recently read "The Road Less Stupid" and despite the abrasive title, it was a good business book. I've covered about 3 of the 40+ chapters in my review, and even then it's only a fragment of the book. better-simple.com/book-reports/2…

Over the last few weeks, I focused on removing overhead from the request hot path in Django Bolt. The results from v0.6.4 → v0.7.0 are honestly better than I expected. I remember when I put 60k RPS in GitHub README because that was the maximum I was able to get from this. 1.

AI just spoiled the complete objective behind open source development. The rise in number of spam PRs in django we have this year during the GSoC period is actually concerning. Please don’t do this.

Normalize NOT spamming the crap out of Open Source projects with low quality PRs. It's not a good look. It is not going to help you become a meaningful contributor and if your professor is encouraging you to do it, send them to me.

Read the article here: dashbit.co/blog/type-syst… Spoiler alert: it is not about which is better, static or dynamic, but rather an attempt to shine a light on the underlying trade-offs. I'm under no illusion I will change anyone's mind on this topic.

Most people treat the static vs dynamic debate as a foregone conclusion, but in practice type systems restrict the expressive power of programming languages in ways that leak complexity to developers. New article: Type systems are leaky abstractions — the case of Map.take!/2

Cost @Apple a few bucks on a bachelor’s trip 😅 My friends hid my phone as a prank, which somehow turned into a full-on convo about @immichapp that I self-host and use for backing up my photos! A few of them have already cancelled their iCloud subscription, OSS FTW 🚀
