It’s a jobs program by the people that destroyed the economy. Btw in a future with self-driving cars there will be even less incentive to take the train imo. Again, even Via would cost my family $800-1000 for round-trip tickets now planned way in advance. This thing will be more expensive and compete with VIA and self-driving cars. It’s a horrendous idea waste of money. Here’s a free idea for Liberals. Reduce taxes on corporations and high-earners. Allow income splitting between spouses. Stop over-regulating and trying to control everything and the economy will soar. Or, stay on the current path until you’ve inflicted irreversible damage.

I see everyone arguing about the High speed rail. And most of those arguments ignore facts and are clearly partisan. They’re selling high-speed rail as a $60–90B project. Bullshit! 90% of megaprojects go over budget. California HSR? Quoted $33B, actually $120B+. UK HSR? Billions over and still climbing. Toronto LRT? Years late, billions over. This is going cost $2,500–$4,000 per Canadian. And who will use it? Primarily a corridor between Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City. Now the part they forget to mention. Even optimistic projections show 40–60 years to see a return. That’s assuming strong ridership, no major overruns, no delays. Reality? Most high-speed rail systems never make the money back invested and require ongoing public subsidies. So we’re borrowing tens of billions… to build something a portion of the country uses… that will never pay for itself… and in all likelihood cost 100s of millions a year to operate. This is not a smart investment. Someone stands to make a lot of money from this and it’s not everyday Canadians.

Total fantasy. I earn a high salary and I’d never spend 800 dollars for a trip i can do in a few hours by car (especially if it’s self-driving). You’re not going to have enough people going back and forth to ever justify this thing. VIA trains are empty half the time. Even the limited business that goes on between these two cities now is probably done remotely most of the time. And Quebec’s regulatory and language environment keeps Ontario businesses expanding to the province. Total waste of money. Liberals seem to have never heard of opportunity cost and the OC on 90 billion set on fire by the government is gigantic, not to mention the future interest payments…

You have to be mathematically illiterate to think this project will have a positive roi. There’s not enough travel between to justify it. Quebec and Montreal are small cities. There’s very little cross-pollination between businesses in Toronto and Montreal anymore in part because Quebec likes to make it difficult to operate there. Montreals don’t even like Toronto. Look at VIA Rail prices between Toronto and Montreal. I don’t dislike the train but with a family of 5 it’s far cheaper to just drive and that’s what most people will continue to so. So you’ll have no riders which will push ticket prices even higher, or the gov will subsidize to save face and avoid the images of an empty 90 billion dollar train (and guaranteed it will be higher)

Pierre Poilievre announces that the Conservatives are against the high speed train project between Toronto and Quebec City, and if in power will cancel it; "I am confirming that a future Conservative government will cancel this $90 billion boondoggle altogether." OK so how are Conservatives planning to build world class infrastructure?

💯. We have an 8 and 11 year gap from our baby. The other children absolutely love their baby sister. She’s developing super fast in part because of how much attention and interaction she gets with the children being homeschooled. The kids also help their mom with the baby a lot. And there’s no question in my mond that they’re both going to want babies of their own when they are adults. It’s wonderful to see. Congrats!

Is there a link to the actual study? I take my family to a very nice restaurant on a fairly regular basis. We’re regulars at this point and know the owner. Half the time we go there’s a big fat guy with a date. It always seems to be a different woman. I always figured it was because he owned a successful construction company, but now I know it’s just the belly they are attracted to. 😅

Model Y is too narrow. They’re need to make it a bit wider at the same time as they elongate. It should be more expensive than the Y but far cheaper than the X or Cybertruck imo and it would sell very well imo. I can get 2 Ys for the price of an X or Cybertruck, which doesn’t really make sense from and materials and assembly standpoint. Don’t do the fancy doors or air suspension imo. Keep it relatively affordable for families that aren’t rich.

Elon Musk has really been open to the idea of a three-row Tesla SUV lately. The Model Y L would sell like hotcakes in the US, in my opinion.

@DrKristieLeong You have to use the refrigerated stuff that’s actually fermented. The stuff on the shelves is dead and won’t have same impact.

Mind-blowing gut news from UC Davis microbiologists: Plain old sauerkraut (fermented cabbage) can actually shield your intestinal lining from inflammation damage Raw cabbage? Zero protection. Just the salty brine? Nope, not enough. In lab tests with human gut cell models, sauerkraut extracts kept the barrier strong and reduced damage from inflammatory cytokines. Unfermented cabbage? No dice. It’s the full fermentation magic that creates powerful metabolites, like lactic acid, GABA, and unique amino acid derivatives, that your gut cells recognize and thrive on. A small daily serving (just a forkful or two!) might help build a more resilient digestive system—especially paired with plenty of fiber. Fermented foods never stop surprising us. Who’s adding more kraut to their plate this week? #GutHealth #FoodAsMedicine Reference: Wei L, Marco ML.2025.The fermented cabbage metabolome and its protection against cytokine-induced intestinal barrier disruption of Caco-2 monolayers. This story is horrific. This girl with mental issues was taken from her parents and thrown in a state-run facility with MENA migrant minors. They then gang-raped her. It traumatised her and led to a suicide attempt which left her paraplegic. Today, Spain will euthanise her.

I really like the new model Y. It’s just too small for a family with 3 kids. If it was a bit wider it might be doable. Even the X is a bit too constrained for space as the kids get older and/or you have one still in the stroller years and aren’t willing to compromise on the stroller. We, like many others, absolutely love our Uppababy Vista but fitting it in the back of an X while technically possible is not easy. And then all you have left is that little frunk. It’s similarly difficult for luggage. I’d love to see a full-size Tesla. They’re get so much right but cargo space is an issue.

Because Boomers voted the Liberals back in and they have destroyed the Canadian economy over a decade and are doing more to sink it every day. Mexico and USA are moving forward on CUSMA and Carney is nowhere to be found, flying all around the world signing MOUs that will have no real impact on our economy or growth. Meanwhile the USA is inking concrete deals to deliver billions of dollars of oil and gas overseas. Our best people all leave because we’re taxed to death at both the corporate and individual level yet that will never change with the Libs. Do we even want to address the deficits that are robbing our children to fund grift and inefficiency today? The boomers, by continuing to support the Liberals, are signing the economic death warrant of Canada.

I’m seeing, yet again, this surge of hatred for the Boomer generation. I’m a late season Boomer, born in 1961; I’ve worked for nearly 50 years, have been in the same profession for 37 years, I’ve routinely worked 45-60 hours a week. I don’t get why we are so vilified.

My 8 yo broke a 2k speaker on the weekend. The damage is mostly cosmetic but the grill is toast and tweeter is dented. He was crying non-stop because he thought I’d be super pissed since he knows what the system cost and understands money quite well. I’m not going to say that I’m happy about it but i was glad he fessed-up immediately. What’s the point of yelling at people for an accident? Money or no money, my response wouldn’t have changed. Govern your emotions especially with regard to your wife and kids. But yes, an emergency account is something everyone should build.

My wife accidentally knocked the monitor off the desk yesterday. Crash. Done. A few hundred bucks gone. 10 years ago? That would've ruined my week. I would've been pissed. Snapped at her. Not because of the monitor. Because we didn't have the margin to absorb it. And when you're living paycheck to paycheck, every unexpected expense feels like a crisis. Every broken thing becomes a argument. Every surprise bill makes you shorter with your kids. You can't be calm when you're constantly stressed about money. You can't lead your family well when you're one car repair away from panic. That's why an emergency fund isn't about the money. It's about staying regulated when life doesn't cooperate. It's about not letting a broken monitor turn into a fight with your wife. It's about your kids not feeling the tension every time something goes wrong. FINANCIAL PEACE ISN'T A LUXURY. It's a requirement for being the dad and husband your family needs. Because the man who's always stressed about money can't show up calm. Can't make decisions clearly. Can't be present. You don't need to be rich. You need enough saved that life's inevitable curveballs don't knock you sideways. Start with $1,000. Then build to one month of expenses. Then three. Then six. It won't happen overnight. But every dollar you put away is buying you something more valuable than stuff. It's buying you the ability to stay calm. To lead without panic. To be the steady presence your family counts on. That's what an emergency fund actually is. Not a pile of money. Your ability to stay the man you need to be when everything else goes wrong.

And what about non-political content? Same thing intended or will those not be demonetized? Does it matter what country someone is posting food videos from? I’d quite like to see what an Italian is posting even if it’s outside my region. I think X gets less interesting if everyone gets pigeonholed and encouraged to only discuss things in their own country. I know you like commenting on the horrors in the UK @elonmusk and we need to allow people to continue bringing attention to those issues from outside the country bc in the UK you increasingly jist get arrested and it looks like Canada may follow a similar trajectory.

I'm based in France, but 43% of my audience is American. I know many of us are in the same situation. To reach a wider audience, all my posts are in English, the international language. Those who cause trouble may be punished, but with this change, which will significantly reduce our earnings, you're also penalizing a number of accounts that use the international language without any ill intent. X tells us that videos and new, high-quality content will be prioritized, but this change will, on the contrary, drastically reduce our earnings. Is there any way to reverse this decision, please?🥺 @XCreators @X @nikitabier @elonmusk

Starting Thursday, we'll be updating our revenue sharing incentives to better reward the content we want on X: We will be giving more weight to impressions from your home region—to encourage content that resonates with people in your country, in neighboring countries and people who speak your language. While we appreciate everyone's opinion on American politics, we hope this will disincentivize gaming the attention of US or Japanese accounts and instead, drive diverse conversations on the platform. We invite creators to start building an audience locally. X will be a much richer community when there's relevant posts for people in all parts of the world.
