Cody Hicken

2025 is in the books: 108 races, 45 tracks, 11 states. An entire year gone in what felt like the blink of an eye. I started the year journeying to the beautiful desert of New Mexico, and ended it off back home in the frozen tundra of Wisconsin. Along the way, I got to see places and be part of experiences I will cherish forever. Countless exciting moments, recording-breaking broadcasts, multiple tracks being reopened, meeting many great people, the list goes on and on. More recently, I've been trying to embrace the expression "it's not the destination, it's the journey". Extremely thankful to be where I currently am. Can't wait to see what 2026 has in store. Race #35 of 2026: World of Outlaws Late Models Dairyland Showdown Night #3 at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. It's not discussed yet as much as Eldora etc, but this place needs to be in the talks as one of the best dirt tracks in the country. Plus they had a cow. (May 2nd, 2026)

Race #34 of 2026: World of Outlaws Late Models Dairyland Showdown Night #2 at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. This has quickly become one of my favorite race weekends of the year. I realized I've worked this event every year since its inception except for 2024. (May 1st, 2026)

Race #33 of 2026: World of Outlaws Late Models Dairyland Showdown Night #1 at Mississippi Thunder Speedway. On turn 1 duty this weekend; one of my favorite vantage points to work at the dirt track. This place always has the most gorgeous sunsets over turn 3. (April 30th, 2026)

Race #32 of 2026: World of Outlaws Late Models at Independence Motor Speedway. Second ever visit here, first was back in 2024. Last time I was here, I was working infield cam and had to run for cover after a car blew a motor and went spinning out of control. (April 28th, 2026)

Race #31 of 2026: MARS Championship Late Model Series Garry Swibold Memorial at Peoria Speedway. The track had a bit of character as they say. Ryan Unzicker wins this event for the 4th year in a row. His son Brody also picked up the win in the B-mod feature. (April 25th, 2026)

Race #30 of 2026: MARS Championship Late Model Series JCB Diggin' Dirt 40 at Brownstown Bullring. My first solo broadcast of the season. Tried out a new speed shot, which immediately paid off with a clip of a hornet jumping a tire making the rounds online. (April 24th, 2026)

Race #29 of 2026: World of Outlaws Late Models Illini 100 Night #2 at Farmer City Raceway. Bobby Pierce charged from starting 10th to win his 3rd Illini 100. He and Brandon Sheppard are the only 2 winners of this event going all the way back to 2017. (April 11th, 2026)

Race #28 of 2026: World of Outlaws Late Models Illini 100 Night #1 at Farmer City Raceway. My first of many scheduled stops at FCR this year. A lot of great memories at this place throughout the years, I've seen many viral moments and exciting finishes here. (April 10th, 2026)
