@effortfuleduktr A paper in 1978 by Hartley and Davies originally came up with the 10 minute attention myth. Attention was indexed by the average time students stopped taking notes 🤔 hmm… a finding got taken out of context and thrown around. We need to support our beliefs with good data!

@effortfuleduktr See Rosengrant et al (2021) on exact methods researchgate.net/publication/34… But in summary, we have real data to show that this pervasive myth that the lecture is dead is largely unfounded. And such vague statistics thrown around are harmful. All of this comes from a paper in 1978 …
