@Pam_Rubin1 @work_matters @vanishingcorp Have a heat pump in Montreal and it’s been great even in dead of winter. BUT electricity here is hydro and pretty cheap and I have backup electric wall heaters for when it dips below -14 C.

@work_matters @vanishingcorp Had a heat pump for a year in a cold climate. Hated it. I was always cold and it cost a fortune when the backup electric heat came on. Maybe it’s better now?

@bureaulab @SandraNoDuerme @pardoguerra @runzach I landed on a similar definition: specialized knowledge that facilitates superior execution of tasks. I’m thinking about this as separable from occupations which simplifies. I like recent work that considers expertise as deeply relational (Anteby & Holm; Pakarinen & Huising).

@SandraNoDuerme @pardoguerra @runzach @CohenJobs I came to this conversation on expertise from the research on knowledge work in organizations. So for me, expertise is simply proficiency/skills in a knowledge domain. Curious to see if others have good definition suggestions.
