The latest Republican-led funding bill, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026 (H.R. 7148), which was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Trump on February 3, 2026, includes funding for the Department of Education. The bill provides approximately $79 billion in discretionary funding for the department, representing a slight increase of $217 million over fiscal year 2025 levels and rejecting earlier proposals for deeper cuts. This maintains or modestly boosts support for key programs such as Title I grants for low-income students, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and others.

We have great schools here in Sumner County and across the 6th District. @RealDonaldTrump needs conservatives in Congress who will fight every day to ensure the U.S. Department of Education is fully dismantled.
