$600 isn't high.. but maybe you are high? 🤔 Day 1: Cut out damage back to wall studs, attached patch with drywall screws tape and mud (Now mud has to dry you know, so the contractor now leaves) Day 2: Sand mud (If dry) Apply a second coat of mud Day 3: Sand again, touch up mud as needed. Day 4: Final sand, then prime and texture to match existing (Yes the texture needs to dry before paint) Day 5: Prime again - then paint wall corner to corner x2 coats possibly 3 if the patched area looks thirsty. Costs (Because I know you don't run a business with your $20 comment) 1) Gas ⛽ - $50 I would say because I'm guessing they aren't your neighbor 2) Few cans of texture $45 3) Primer $25 4) Gallon of paint $40 5) 5 days of business insurance (Yes this needs to be accounted for - this isn't a not for profit) $100 6) 5 days of operation costs - vehicle insurance, bookkeeper, storage unit... You get the point.. $100 = $360 just to do the damn job.. $240 profit (Probably 20 hours with how much time to do it, driving, talking to you about every little thing you're scared of ECT = $12 an hour.... I'm losing my mind. I called a handyman to fix this one small hole. He had the nerve to quote me $600! For what?! A $20 patch kit from Home Depot? He's trying to tell me he has to 'cut a new square,' 're-tape the seams,' and 'paint the entire wall' to blend it. What a joke! Does he really think I'm that dumb?! He's just trying to scam me into paying for a full day's work for a 30-minute job. By rissy roo fans
