@QuetzalPhoenix The "Old Gentleman of Raahe" is a leather(face) diving suit from Finland and is probably the oldest known diving suit in the world.

Literally every single person who's ever done a construction project in this country has a horror story.
I used to be friends with a Polish dude who owned a bar. Hung out there a lot since he let me and my friends come party during covid lockdowns.
He had the bathroom in the bar office/living area renovated and we were hanging out after hours. Went in there to take a leak and the toilet was sitting nearly in the dead center of the bathroom.
I came out and asked, "Dude, what's with the toilet? It's like 2 feet away from the wall"
He got raging pissed and was swearing in Polish for like a solid minute. His girlfriend explained that the 3 hours he wasn't there to watch the Thai workers like a hawk, they installed the toilet in the stupidest position imagineable.
Couldn't believe the absolute idiocy. How do you fuck something up that's so obviously wrong?

An interesting thing about bears.
During hibernation, bears develop insulin resistance--> which is essentially what we call Type 2 diabetes in humans. This is not a malfunction; it is a deliberate adaptation.
By making most of the body resistant to insulin, whatever glucose is available gets prioritised for the brain. The rest of the body runs entirely on stored fat.
When spring arrives, the insulin sensitivity switches back to normal, completely and without medication.
So, this insulin resistance during hibernation is their adaptation to survive in food-scarce times.
From a human lens, they go from diabetic to perfectly healthy again, on their own biological schedule.
Scientists are actively studying how bears turn this mechanism on and off, and which genes are involved, hoping to find new ways to treat Type 2 diabetes in humans.
