Now we can have an education secretary telling school girls that thousands of girls raped and trafficked by predominantly pakisani rape gangs is a “dog whistle”.

Good news that VAT will be cut on electricity bills. It’s a simple way for families to save a few quid, and to mechanically help to keep inflation that little bit lower.
But the DigitalID program was unfunded.
The government will have to set out how it will pay for its new policies at the budget.

Today’s energy tax cut will give families some breathing room on bills, and provide some reassurance this winter. This will be funded from the cancelled Digital ID scheme this year, helping to bring down inflation while supporting households in every postcode.

So the Knob from the North is giving us breathing space by cutting VAT on energy bills from October saving us about 86p a week. Phew. The relief. That'll do it. Don't spend it all at once. 🙄😜🤣

I'm hearing that Louise Haigh, Andy Burnham's right hand woman, will be Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, running a beefed up cabinet office that will be the "political engine room" driving the PM's agenda.
She will *also* be first secretary of state, a role held in previous govts by George Osborne, William Hague & Pater Mandelson. The last & only woman to hold the role was Barbara Castle, who Haigh has said in the past is her political hero.
