Meaning how they play defensively should be taken into account. Not just oh so and so has more points there for he’s the best.

defensemans primary purpose is honestly to help you win games. theres asymmetry in offensive and defensive contribution. theoretically you can add goals forever but there's a floor to what your defensive contribution can be. thats why guys like makar/hughes are valued more than guys like slavin/forsling/seider.

If he doesn't win the Norris than it's officially a forwards award

You can have a defender put up 95 points and be god awful on defense who will win the Norris vs a guy who puts up 50-60 points but plays some of the best defense.

@TheDanStLaurent @McCartyDangles Defenseman’s main purpose is to keep the puck out of their net and their zone. If we aren’t taking their ability to do that into account for the award for best defenseman there’s not even a point. +/- is one of the flukiest stats in hockey. It means very little to me
