Personally I think the insiders had no information that this notoriously leak-resistant front office didn't want them to have. They seemed to be getting information that was true but dated, that's why Elliotte didn't realize the Sedins were being offered such a significant role.

The Sedins have announced they will fuse together to form a single Director of Hockey Ops, like Voltron or some final Pokemon evolution.
The only holdup is on them trying to decide whether or not they will be referred to as Haniel or Denrik, perhaps alternating designations.

But so is RJ and the Sedins. I just dont see how yoi can be upset when none of these names have had much say in what happens in the organization.

Folks seem to have some pretty strong feelings about a name many had barely heard a week ago.
But this is ultimately how growth within an organization is supposed to work. While I understand the “he was already here, so he’s tied to everything” argument, I’m personally interested to see what he and the Sedin twins can build on their own (assuming those roles are accurate).
RJ is regarded as a strong hockey mind and already has familiarity with the system, which certainly matters.
Change for the sake of change isn't necessarily the way.
