I don’t really think the fanbase is truly fractured at all. I think it’s actually been unbelievably patient, especially relative to how others fans of similar programs would react, with the heaping plate of shit sandwiches we’ve had to eat over the past decade.

Luke Loucks spoke with media today recapping season, decision to decline NIT, etc. Here are some takeaways -SID Chuck Walsh will be retiring -If decision came down to him, they would've played NIT, but realized guys were playing through injuries and worn/broken down, and teams lose money in NIT (made it clear admin was fully onboard hosting NIT if team was bought in) -Gives staff a chance to get a head start on portal work when they were working from behind last year -understands why fans are upset about declining, but he appreciates how much they want to watch the team because it "shows we're building something that actually matters." -Expects a couple of guys to hit portal by "mutual decision" -Also appreciated the Miami and Florida fans who made sure to make fun of him for missing Tournament while they made it. "This can change quickly... be aware of the bears you wanna poke, we're coming." -Much better place financially than a year ago, but still a long way to go to be where they need and want to be. Says they were at the "bottom of the bottom tier" in spending, but moving up now -Wants to add more size and length at every position, emphasis on basketball IQ, toughness, and shooting -Admits he made a lot of mistakes, especially early in the year, that he wouldn't make again -sees anywhere from 3 to 5 portal additions, depends on money he can raise -would like to keep playing a tough schedule, "Bobby [Bowden] would play anyone... until they became one of those top teams" -Jasen Lopez will be with football from now until the end of football season, that's his main priority #Noles
