You've been subjected to constant trauma from the day you got here. You're treated like livestock by everyone with any form of authority. You've been intentionally beaten down in the hopes that you turn into a monster because recidivism is how they pay the bills.

I saw more people fall victim to shit than I saw people rise above it. You're living in an entirely parallel world with its own politics, economy and traps.

Reviewing a San Diego NOFA and the amount of hoops the local government wants you to jump through to help homeless people is staggering. Housing people in need should be met with urgency and efficiency at all levels. It's honestly disheartening.

Very few examples tell you how the punishment bureaucracy works better than this. “Law enforcement” enforces only *some* laws against *some* people.

@rickval92102 Haha. I think they offered to buy the building for 10 million dollars. Would’ve been a giveaway. We paid 87 million to buy a building appraised at 67 million; with financing we’re paying 233 million over 20 years.

@Coleen4SD 100% agree. We’ll probably never know why negotiations broke down with the developer who proposed the idea of building 100’s of rent restricted units with a short timeline?
