@drcbs_ I assigned topical and challenging work this semester and noticed the same thing. When I asked them about it, they said it was heavy. Not sure the level you're teaching but I realized my students are teens (17-18) and need space to process emotionally before intellectually.

The students' lack of preparedness and disinterest in my Black Social & Political Thought class today--about political prisoners and prisoners of war, no less!!--was just too much. It's one thing to not do the reading; it's quite another to be completely disengaged from the lecture and discussion in which you can at least learn SOMETHING. Like?? How is this college?
