@CraigBaird When I worked for APTN in North Vancouver I walked across the bridge to Stanley Park. It's definitely in a magnificent setting.

On March 31, 1937, construction began on the Lions Gate Bridge in Vancouver. Partly financed by the Guinness family in Ireland, construction took only 20 months and it was opened by a visiting King and Queen. It is now an iconic part of Vancouver. This is the story. 🧵 1/10

@johnpaul_newman Norman Lear did better with this adapting "Till Death Do Us Part" as "All In The Family" and "Steptoe And Son" as "Sanford And Son".

On this Women’s Day, remember the women in Afghanistan living under the most misogynistic regime on earth. Barred from schools, universities, most jobs, politics, parks, sports, arts, music, travel without a male guardian, and public life.

@UnrealBluegrass Saw him twice in the '80s with the Arkestra. The first was a debut music date with my wife, then girlfriend. She loved it and we're still married.

Highly recommend "Sun Ra : Do the Impossible". On PBS. Saw the full Arkestra in early 80s. Amazing experience. Unforgettable. Loved every moment. I bought an album for 5 dollars. Live recording. In a white sleeve. No cover. Hand written on the the record the word "Egypt". That's all. No contents listed. PS The world was in darkness, and darkness was ignorance and then came Ra. @SunRaUniverse @POVdocs

@BowersWrites I was at the museum as a journalist the first time they fired up the merlins. To say the sound was thrilling is an understatement. Since then I have seen it here in Winnipeg twice, including a tour inside with the latest seeing it fly low wheels down over my neighbourhood.

Canada's only airworthy Lancaster bomber looked very different indeed back in the 1970s. Read the first part of her story here: legionmagazine.com/an-armchair-to… The second part will be released this afternoon! 📸 Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum

Are we cheering for the stellar Japanese figure skaters to win the women’s medals, now that the Canadian is out of the running and there’s more than a few of the other skaters who might be assholes?

Gloria Swanson as "Salome" in"Stage Struck" (1925) The early version of technicolor was used in the beginning and the end of the silent film. As Swanson famously stated "We didn't need dialogue -we had faces!"
