Many people overrate overestimate analysis of the type “they don’t want more growth/houses” and underestimate of the type “they’re intellectually dishonest about trade-offs”. Shoddy reasoning about trade-offs is a huge problem (and often blameworthy).




Most won't, for a simple reason. They need to win elections, starting with primaries, and "the groups" are FAR more influential in that process than unengaged voters. By the time the latter get involved, the choice is between Trump/Trumpism and Democrats who have signed on to trans ideas/policies, which, frankly, are not top priority for most unengaged voters. Every general election comes down to "sure, we're crazy on some issues, but Trump is worse." And Dems believe--not without some justification--that that strategy is effective enough to remain competitive.
