❗️ Ukrainian drone strikes deep into Russia pose a threat to Germany’s security — Alice Weidel, leader of the pro-Russian AfD party, is diligently carrying out the Kremlin’s tasks.
“You cannot constantly poke a big bear in the eye with a red-hot iron — for example, with drone strikes deep into Russia — and expect that nothing will happen. Sooner or later the bear will strike back, and the policy towards Ukraine has increased the risks to our security. As soon as we come to power, we will pursue a policy of balance and a sensible approach in the field of security.”
"Britain's future lies with Europe - and one day, back in the European Union."
Former health secretary Wes Streeting says the UK needs a new special relationship with Europe, as he calls Brexit a 'catastrophic mistake'.

@ESPNcricinfo Sort it out on the pitch! Always play the correct overs per session. No breaks till completion. Start pkay early if needed. Personally I would make all balls in break times free hits. Also fine £1000 per delayed over. Problem would be resolved on first day of new rules.
JUST IN: Pakistan have lost eight WTC points and 40% of their match fee for keeping a slow over-rate in their loss to Bangladesh in the first Test in Dhaka.
The visitors were found to be eight overs short of the target
Would Andy Burnham be a better leader than Keir Starmer?
Burnham’s possible route back to Westminster has emerged, with one MP stepping aside to trigger a by-election, which Andy wants to stand in.
Would he get your vote?
@backandacross Prepare for Leeds weather. With absolutely no more than 3 days probably 2 and a half days play is the anything that can be got from the visit? I can only see catching a cold or injury ?
Ten people from the UK Overseas Territories of Saint Helena and Ascension Island who were either on board or were contacts of passengers from the hantavirus-hit MV Hondius will be brought to the UK for self-isolation.
Meanwhile the initial 72-hour isolation period is due to end today for the 20 Brits who are in a hospital in Merseyside.
@ECB_cricket Let's have a root amd branch reform .Now. Mid season. Country cricket is irrelevant to the England Test team. One plays for boring draws, one plays for exciting wins. Scrap boring draws in county cricket. Reward exciting wins. Simple as that. Please do it now!
@ECB_cricket More boring draws. Only the ECB is responsible. I want my cricket on good high scoring spinning wickets. 20 point penalty for causing a boring draws. Batting over 120 overs and not winning 20 point penalty! Lose all batting and bowling points too! This is 2026!
@bracecricket Great work Dave and the gang. But totally let down by the medieval play regulations and points system. Personally I think it's an insult to the hard working players that there's no incentive to win matches in county cricket.
CRICKET |It’s the final day of Nottinghamshire’s County Championship match against Surrey at Trent Bridge. There has been a few drops of rain overnight and there is heavy cloud cover and a biting wind. but conditions are expected to allow for a prompt start at 11am #bbccricket
I am on my way to hear Keir Starmer try to save his job by saying - according to an overnight briefing that - “to meet the challenges that our country faces incremental change won't cut it.” The briefing also says Starmer will also “set out the next steps in his plan to build a stronger and fairer Britain in the coming days and weeks.” So the end of “incremental change” will come in “steps.”
@BethRigby Looks like he's going this afternoon? Is he just putting his head in a bucket of sand? Completely out of touch with the voters! Goodbye Kier Starmer!
No tanks. No fireworks. Heavy security across Moscow. President Vladimir Putin’s Victory Day parade looked very different this year as Russia faced drone threats, cancelled public celebrations, and compared the Ukraine war to WWII.
Al Jazeera's Yulia Shapovalova reports.
@ECB_cricket No cricket in London again? Insanity in my opinion. 9.9M people, most of which have excellent public transport to the games. Sitting at home watching cricjet on you tube.
For the 17-minute train journey from Bayeux to Caen (roughly Croydon-London) I bought my ticket from an actual person in the booking office rather than battle with a machine designed by Franz Kafka's French cousin.
But before they would sell me a ticket, they demanded my passport
SNCF/French Railways: I reckon it's not as classy as many think.
My journey through Brittany and Normandy has involved a surprising amount of hitchhiking for a rail trip.
Dismal schedules.
Kafkaesque ticket machines.
Railr replacement buses on normal days.

Should people be banned from boozing before they get on an early flight?
The boss of Ryanair says that nobody needs to have a pint at 5 or 6 in the morning.
But maybe a tipple in an airport bar is one of the perks of travelling?
