Its a metaphor: the new plan book, replacing the old, working in tandem with my trusty HP chromebook. It's year 5 in ed tech. But 30 years as HS ELA teacher, and lover of a good sharp pencil, keeps me rooted in the analog. Loving starting day 1 at RMS, an amazing school. #vted

A noble goal. But deals like this (I taught in Ludlow for 25 years and watched Okemo do the same) favor certain kids and certain families, typically those who didn't need it in the first place. Many who need the slopes the most get shut out. Pls rework outdated criteria.

Two notes on this: love @abuntcvu's idea of the teachable moment. Nothing like having a civics lesson handed to you. But mostly, I dig the image that leads the story. Less the sentiment, more the teen on the bus. All hail #adolescence!

An amazing resource, especially for grades where complex texts are read but explicit reading instruction often ends. From my practice, two examples: Hurston's "Eyes Were Watching God" and "Hamlet". Both really hard, but for different reasons. Neuroscience of Reading!
