Man eats 370g of carbs, has glucose of 71mg/dL.
CIM hardest hit.
It's not the carbs, people.
GatorDadSteve@gatordadsteve
The low carb people probably don't like this 🤷♂️

What does it really mean to take a holistic approach to health?
This is a simplified (yes) view of metabolism.
You'll quickly realize everything effects everything.
Any interruption in any of these interconversions can drive an excess or deficiency of another compound, which does the same for another, and so on.
This also means any interruption in any of these reactions can drive essentially any symptom or disease, depending on the person, and what compounds get influenced.
This means that things you wouldn't classically think could happen, can.
Energy is what ties all of this together. All of these reactions are dependent on energy. If you can't generate energy, you have nothing.
Thus, energy is the ultimate root cause, its focus the ultimate holistic frontier.
What else causes interruptions in this beautiful chain?
• Toxins
• Genetics
• Stress
• History
• Environmental factors
• Nutrient deficiencies
• Infections
• Gut issues - probably the biggest and most important.
& the list goes on.
A gut & energy centric paradigm should thus serve as the foundation of any proper approach to health.
If you already seem to have most of this locked in, then advanced testing can go a long way to identify exactly where in the system things are out of whack.
Urinary organic acids can directly measure the proportions of many of these compounds you see here.
Plasma amino acids can complement that.
Measuring ammonia, lactic acid, ketone levels, and glucose can give an even better picture.
Dig even deeper - analyses for mold, metals, endocrine disruptors, infectious agents. Even gene sequencing.
It's a hard puzzle to figure out, but it is possible.
If you can, you'll stop playing the game of molecular whack a mole of pharmaceuticals and diets that only work for brief periods of time until they don't.

@DragonBowtied @BowTiedUM What do you make of Russo Lifts experience with Lion’s mane?

Could Lions mane, Reishi or other “Anti-Androgenic” Herbal Supplements Wreck your Hormones?
Short answer: NO
Long answer: Herbs/mushrooms like lions mane, saw palmetto, reishi etc. are extremely weak inhibitors of 5-ar (if they even interact at all in humans). Drugs like finasteride or dutasteride crush 5-ar levels 70+% with pharmaceutical grade potency (distinct from herbs which all contain many different bioactives each with distinct effects/mechanisms that often lead to an overall “balancing” of the effects; this is why many herbs do not carry the some potential for side effects as pharmaceuticals but also have a lower ceiling for max efficacy). When you crush 5-ar to nothing with these drugs you can expect some negative effects (given DHT is the primary androgen/male hormone in many tissues) and in a small percentage of people these issues will continue to persist indefinitely even after discontinuation and of the drug.
The mushrooms? Not in the same league whatsoever. You can expect neurogenesis, immune modulation, potential cardiovascular benefits but potent hormonal effects in either direction are not going to occur.
Bottom line if you’re worried about PFS from taking a mushroom that is eaten as a food (in amounts much greater than 500mg-1g most take in supplements)… Chill. You are overthinking and neurotically stressing to a level that will be more damaging to your hormones than any supplements.
Biohacking /= paranoia or hypochondria
Focus on the real risks/issues (like lack of sunlight, blue light at night, eating a whole food nutrient dense diet; coincidentally when you interrogate deep enough none of the people I’ve helped/consulted with who think they are experiencing an issue like this are doing all these things consistently), not hypothetical/placebo ones you read about on social media (or worse…Reddit).
