Still got both of mine. High speed on top, low speed below. The bottom one is 58 years old and is still on the original batteries and in its' original sleeve. Will not be affected by water, ice or EMP and can do just about anything a calculator or phone app can do anytime, anywhere. These are just rotary slide rules with a navigation bias.

You need to know that in the year of our Lord 2026 these are still used to train pilots to calculate fuel consumption, wind drift, and ground speed.

As a professional pilot, I would take the fuel I needed and what was appropriate for the trip, destination weather, potential issues at destination, etc etc. But I never took more than I thought I needed for the job in hand that day and that trip. Long since retired but I would not vote in favour of the idea/

Starting in 2027, the proposed scheme requires flight crews to collectively reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 60,000 tonnes compared to 2025 levels. Pilots will achieve these targets through operational adjustments, such as optimizing taxiing procedures and carefully managing the amount of extra fuel loaded onto the aircraft. The British Airline Pilots Association, which represents 85% of commercial pilots in the United Kingdom, will vote on the proposal at the end of April 2026. ✈️

@xAviation Crazy indeed, I'd not like to fly with that Captain. Aircraft was running out of aileron authority to keep the left wing down, thus risking hitting the right wing tip and possibly scraping the right engine pod, and then airframe break-up, Bl++dy crazy !!!

But last night was terrible. russia launched 29 missiles And 480 shaheds over Ukraine - Tsirkons, Kalibrs, Iskanders - At peaceful cities, At people sleeping in their homes. I wanted so badly to sleep. But every time I was falling asleep, Another explosion woke me up. Again. And again. Some of them were very close. At some point you stop trying to sleep. You just lie in the dark and pray the next explosion isn’t for you.

The real best airplane sounds aren’t the loud ones everyone films... it’s these three legends: -A350 flaps (pure hydraulic music) -A320 PTU “barking dog” on the ground -A380 engine roar that shakes your chest IMO: Avgeeks live for this stuff while normal passengers Google “is the plane broken?” which one actually wins the crown ? Or is there a better sound I’m sleeping on?
