(1 am) Storms are moving out of the area. There is still a gust front from earlier storms that could produce 40 mph gusts, but it seems to be weakening. Cooler air spills in behind the front. @JeffPorterWX has you covered fron 4:30-9:00 am.

This circled green line on radar is an outflow boundary (cool air from the downdraft of thunderstorms to the north clashing with warmer air). This is creating gusty winds ahead of the thunderstorms. This gust front has a history of producing 40-50 mph winds.

A line of thunderstorms is approaching Oceana County and will continue moving to the east and southeast. These storms are capable of producing small hail and wind gusts up to 40 mph. Not expecting these to turn severe, but will be watching closely.

(4 pm) Some light showers are currently making their way through the region. Showers will continue to fall at times throughout the evening, and a few thunderstorms are possible as well between 8 pm and midnight. It will be much cooler tomorrow before a big warmup late week.

One week from today will be our first 9 pm sunset of the year in Kalamazoo. After that, the sun will set at 9 pm or later through August 2nd.

Patchy frost is possible overnight. A Frost Advisory goes into effect for all of West Michigan at midnight. Make sure to cover or bring inside any sensitive plants or flowers. This should (hopefully) be the last Frost Advisory for most of us until the Fall 🫰

Good morning, West Michigan! Today will be cloudy and cooler with temperatures hovering the 50s throughout much of the day. Some scattered showers are possible at times, mainly near and south of I-94.

Some scattered showers and storms are expected to fire up this evening, and an isolated storm may turn strong or severe. Our risk for severe weather this evening is low, but not zero. Gusty winds or hail is possible with the strongest storms.
