Really impactful few days in Chicago having meaningful conversations with the @CollSportsComm leadership group about moving our organization forward. There are some terrific humans working hard on behalf of collegiate athletic communicators. Humbled to have a seat in that room.

Somebody was documenting my career in real time, and I never once thought about who. Now I’m that somebody. And I have a whole new appreciation for the people who told our story every year." We heard the desire for CSC to summarize a consensus & share an option for consistency to class year standing — appreciating that many groups are affected by these designations outside of comms/creative staff. Our hope is this recommendation at least provides an option.📈
College Sports Communicators@CollSportsComm

Following conversations with communications and creative leaders across the membership, NCAA representatives, members of the compliance community and several media partners, CSC recommends that communications and creative teams use the following class year designations for the 2026-27 academic year: Fr., So., Jr., Sr., 5th. Watch the video from President Matt Panto or visit collegesportscommunicators.com for more.
