I introduced a bill to repeal the federal school voucher program. America's public schools helped build the middle class, but universal school vouchers drain school funding and hurt students. Arizona is living it right now. Our kids and our country deserve better.

Which is true. Kids do need knowledge. But the "science" crowd spent years dismissing teachers who said that. Now they're acting like they discovered it. If the science keeps moving every time it doesn't work, maybe it's not a science. Maybe it's a marketing cycle.

The Science of Reading promised that if we just taught phonics with enough fidelity, comprehension would follow. Now scores aren't moving. So the pivot: "Actually, they need knowledge."

Of the 102 passengers on the Mayflower, only 35-41 were "Pilgrims, Puritan Separatists seeking religious freedom". BUT 60–67 passengers, referred to by the settlers as "Strangers," were merchants, laborers, and skilled workers not affiliated with the church.

Darn it, @alwriting I'm on page 10 and I've teared up three times. Once remembering Don. Once after "Risky Words". One (or maybe more) during the "Initial Thoughts"! Bravo!
