Colonial Intermediate Unit 20

Students in Ms. Burleson’s class had a blast playing games with their Buddies @ Nazareth Area Intermediate! As part of a STEM lesson, Buddies designed and built modified games to be inclusive for students with special needs, creating a fun and engaging experience for all.

Our TaC Courtney, Shaun, and Kendyle joined forces with our STEM Specialist, Sam, to facilitate “UDL Meets STEELS”. The group learned how we can make learning more accessible for ALL science learners! Thanks to the amazing group of educators who joined us today! @ColonialIU20

Inspired by the Paralympics currently taking place in Italy, students in Ms. Davis’ class recently learned about the sport of curling from their speech therapist, Ms. Conley. 🥌🎖️

The @SHINEonPA STEM Ecosystem, @LuzIU18, @CLIU21, & @ColonialIU20, collaborated with specialists in mathematics to hold a two-day summit for educators from three IU regions. Thanks, Northampton Community College & @PADeptofEd for supporting us.

Students in Mr. Fletcher’s class put their skills into action with CIU 20 Occupational Therapist Andrea Henninger! After taking pizza orders from staff, students decorated labels & wrote names...building fine motor, organization & real-world communication skills. 🫶🍕

Staff Spotlight: Christine Scavello Christine’s journey at Colonial IU 20 began in 2013 as a daily substitute. She later served as an associate before becoming a Life Skills teacher in 2021–22. Her career reflects dedication, growth, and a deep commitment to student success!

For 25 years, “Building Bridges” has transformed lives through the arts. This partnership between CIU 20 & Touchstone Theatre supports students with emotional, social & behavioral needs build confidence. Proud of our most recent class and their Feb. 19 final performance!

Our TaC staff presented today at the Statewide annual PaTTAN/TaC meeting. They shared about how they use the Collaborative Problem Solving Process in their work with schools in our region. We are so thankful to @BrookhartDawn for coming to present with us! @ColonialIU20
