Blue pigments are absent in Palaeolithic art. The authors identify traces of azurite on an artefact from the Final Palaeolithic site of Mühlheim-Dietesheim, Germany. This represents the earliest use of blue pigment in Europe! cambridge.org/core/journals/… #historyofpigments
