Colten Landen (26 MA) ran it up to 87 w/ some heavy ASR from low slot. Flashed bending low-70s SL in process. #WWBA @PG_Uncommitted @PG_NewEngland

Colten Landon RHP 2026 @AustinPrepBase is looking for a home. He is 603 / 190 athletically framed with plus plus hand speed. D1 coaches need to get on this one quickly as he will be 90-95 next spring in my eyes @PennBaseball @BrownU_Baseball @CULionsBaseball @BCBirdBall

Colten Landen first 90.
Prior 83-84 (T86) in game to 88-89 T90 in pen.
Colten, a rising 2026 previously struggling to maximize an efficient unloading strategy. He was attempting to create force & velocity by pressing into the ground & over using his back leg, hip.
Colten was taught previously that ground forces were created & transferred by pressing/pushing in order to unload. This resulted in an attempt to hold ER as long as possible & then jump which forced him to extend the rear hip & lack the ability to rotate the pelvis in order to set up a spiral up the chain.
By pushing, jumping Colten would force his COG forward causing him to lose out on potential energy moving from mid P to late P & capturing a true block that could not only accept the transfer but accelerate the torso, in turn accelerating the arm.
Reframing his understanding that ground forces are more easily transferred from the rear leg to the front leg through the usage of the effects of gravity & the slope allowed him to find an easier transfer & unload of the back hip.
Rather than trying to pull himself into a deep load, he could now just drop passively during the linear move and stop to re-create the forces with the front leg while not being interfered by the positioning of his COG & torso.
Cleaning up Colten’s ability to rotate the ribcage effectively around the spine was the next step after clearing up the transfer of the COM itself. While this stage essentially goes hand in hand, Colten’s attempts were hand & arm driven. He lacked the awareness to allow the ribcage/shoulders to be the center piece of rotation & deliver the arm.
Once established that the arm needed to do less of the work, Colten simply focused on allowing rotation of the torso to be the driver for the arm. By doing this he was able to capture more of an elastic driven whip while putting more force on the ball for longer maximizing a higher window for impulse.
In just about 2 months Colten reframed the foundations of his movements & attempts at movement. While a more solid strength & support foundation will be created over time, Colten now has a higher understanding of how velocity is actually established.
