@kyleworley One of the biggest pastoral applications (IMHO) might be: how does this honoring look when we are adults and our parents are aging? How does the honoring look from adult children whose aging parents are making (self)destructive choices?

I'm studying the 5th commandment for a sermon. Do you have any pushback on this frame for honoring different kinds of parents? Faithful, but imperfect: We honor with gratitude. Absent or dead: We honor with grief. Wicked: We honor with grace. Foolish: We honor with growth.

Just saw someone saying using the em-dash is a sign of something being written by AI, because real people rarely use it. This is terrible news for everyone like me who has an unhealthy emotional attachment to the em-dash.

When our young people are communicatng stressed behaviour, we must Regulate, Relate, Reason in that sequence. We must not go straight for the cortex. Pupils cannot reason when their emotions are not regulated. 🧠🌱

Reading to kids doesn't just benefit them. It's good for parents too. Evidence: Reading regularly to children improves parenting skills, reduces stress, and builds lasting bonds. In a distracted world, sitting together with a book is a rare occasion for undivided attention.
