Ran into a girl I was close to in HS on facebook awhile back. She and I both have some bad stuff that happened way back then, decades ago. As we were chatting, she kept lapsing into “therapy-speak” and the upshot of it all was she absolutely REFUSED to believe that I was fine and my life was full and I was happy. And no, none of that affects me much at all and hasn’t for years. She was adamant that this simply was not possible, that I *must* have crippling scars that I’m doomed to be “working through” forever, basically. I’ve buried it, I’m in denial, all that “trauma” is going to leap out and grab me one day, whatever. And she got PISSED that I was like “Nope, I’m good. Worked through that stuff years ago.”
