We got through another long night under missile alerts. One blast around midnight was terrifying, with massive explosions nearby. Our neighborhood was hit. Several homes were damaged, thankfully not ours. What’s especially shocking is Iran’s use of cluster munitions, breaking into dozens of explosives over civilian areas. This video shows one passing above us last night. This morning, my 6-year-old son Ari came from the safe room and asked: “When will the war end? And when will the Iranian people be free?” I told him I hope the threats against us will be over in a few weeks. For the Iranian people, it may take longer. He answered: “After the war, we should make peace with Iran. They should be kind to their people.” Proud of him for choosing hope and peace, even in moments like this.

Yesterday, the Holocaust memorial in Hanover, Germany was vandalized with antisemitic graffiti, defacing the names of Jewish victims. 6,800 Jews from Hanover were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust. And now their memory is being desecrated again.

In the last few months a series of hateful postcards has been sent to Jewish community members and some of our supporters. This is the latest one received by a friend.

Italian bakery “Note di Gusto” in Matera sparked outrage after posting a birthday cake with a swastika and SS symbols. They later apologized, claiming it was a “joke” requested by a customer. But the post, shared with no context, went viral and praised Nazism to millions.

Catholics are called to reject antisemitism and the lies and conspiracies that fuel it, and to stand clearly against hatred and violence directed toward our Jewish brothers and sisters. Giving a platform to antisemitism isn’t balance. It’s like asking a neo-Nazi to explain why Hitler was right, or inviting a radical islamist to justify violence against Jews. Antisemitism isn’t a debate with two legitimate perspectives. It’s hate. And there are no “two sides” to hate.

An Iranian cluster missile destroyed an entire building in Ramat Gan overnight, killing a couple in their 70s who couldn’t reach shelter in time. Iran’s cluster missiles are designed to kill as many civilians as possible. This is yet another war crime by Iran.
