@CombatLooting
The Antiquities Coalition is leading the international campaign against cultural racketeering, the illicit trade in ancient art and artifacts.

Today, I was honored to sign the historic Cultural Property Agreement between the United States and Nepal. This milestone strengthens cooperation to protect Nepal’s cultural heritage, prevent illicit trafficking, and safeguard U.S. museums and collectors from looted antiquities. The agreement protects American collectors, museums, and cultural institutions from unknowingly acquiring trafficked artifacts, disrupts criminal and terrorist financing, upholds the rule of law, and makes both countries safer. It also builds on the United States’ longstanding commitment to preserving Nepal’s heritage, including support through the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation. My sincere thanks to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, the Department of Archaeology, the Antiquities Coalition, the Nepal Heritage Recovery Campaign, and the many heritage professionals whose leadership and dedication made this agreement possible. Together, we affirm that cultural heritage is not a commodity, but a legacy to protect for future generations.
