One of the most dangerous arguments I’m hearing right now from Washington Republicans is that Congress didn’t need to be consulted in the first 60 days of this war. That’s not what the Constitution says, it’s certainly not what the War Powers Act says, and it’s not backed by any serious reading of the law. The War Powers Act does NOT give the President 60 days to start a war on his own. It allows limited action without Congress only if the United States is under attack. Any of my Republican colleagues using this argument as cover are wrong on the law and are using it to avoid doing their job and avoid calling out this Administration's illegal war. The Founders were explicit: the power to take this country to war belongs to Congress. Any attempt to say otherwise ignores both the law and the responsibility we have to the American people.

It should be a much bigger story that JD Vance flew to Hungary, stood on a campaign stage, and told voters to return a head of government widely documented for human rights abuses and democratic backsliding. Then, after his candidate lost, Vance said what had happened during the Hungarian campaign was “one of the worst examples of foreign election interference that I’ve ever seen or ever even read about.” Was he describing himself? The Hungarian people rejected it all. Democracy held, despite America’s intervention, not because of American leadership. I don’t need novelty. I have seen the love of God. I was fought a demonic attack. I cried out to Him, and He freed me from it. Months later, in adoration again. In a fraction of a second I saw the many moments in my life when I failed to speak about Him to others. And immediately I felt His forgiveness and His love. I was an atheist. I spoke terribly about the Church and about Scripture. Yet He was there when I cried for help. Since then I have given Him everything. My only goal now is to reach heaven and bring as many souls with me to Him as I can.

The Church does not receive theology from politicians. The successor of Peter teaches the moral law according to his role. Governments may answer to it or not, but the consequences will be their own demise.

I have been pretty emphatic the last few days in condemning Pope Leo’s foray into American politics. My detractors are having fun stating that I am doing this out of allegiance to President Trump and that I have chosen Trump over God. WRONG. The biggest reason by far why I am so vocal on this is the damage Pope Leo is doing to the Catholic Church in the USA. I believe Pope Leo has done more to harm US Catholicism in just a few days than any other Pope of the past 100 years (even Francis). Pope Leo is literally causing orthodox, faithful American Catholics to flee the Church out of disgust over his leftwing politicization and his kowtowing to Islam. Moreover, he has opened the door for boundless criticism against Catholicism from certain Protestant denominations and churches, causing untold harm to Christian ecumenism in the USA. It is precisely because I care so much about the Church that Jesus founded in AD 33 that I oppose the havoc Pope Leo has unleashed in the US Church. (And yes, under Church doctrine and as a Catholic, I am fully entitled to hold such beliefs and express them.)
