Domestic abuse affects housing, health, education and economic growth, yet it remains largely absent from the devolution debate. My challenge to @andyburnham - if your legacy is about transforming lives, tackling domestic abuse must be a core priority ⬇️ newstatesman.com/spotlight/econ…

'That risk management and the communication and the helpline are not in place' Domestic abuse commissioner Dame Nicole Jacobs told #BBCBreakfast about her concerns about the prisoner early release scheme, after Prime Minister Andy Burnham said he would "review the policy" which could see thousands of inmates released in September bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

➡️Victims must be included in pre-release risk assessment; ➡️Probation must have the capacity to manage the risk; ➡️The helpline promised to survivors must be set up now. The new PM and Lord Chancellor must move quickly. Survivors' safety cannot wait. 2/2

I welcome the PM's commitment to review the early release scheme. But with the release of prisoners in September rapidly approaching, this review must lead to urgent action. Promised mitigations to protect domestic abuse victims must be put in place. 1/2 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Drug-facilitated abuse is used to control, isolate and harm victims. Survivors like Zoe and Amanda are incredibly brave for speaking out. Govt must act to shut down chatrooms, pursue perpetrators and support survivors to recover. 1/2

I welcome @andyburnham as PM. Labour's commitment to halve VAWG is a huge chance to improve the lives of domestic abuse victims. Better funding, trauma-informed support and accountability are essential. I look forward to working with the new PM and his govt to make that happen.

Domestic abuse is a public health emergency. Cardiff's University Hospital shows what's possible, with IDVAs and specialist teams working together to support survivors through recovery. It's great to see first-hand. I want this kind of practice built on across health services.

Great to visit @Glos_Police and local partners yesterday where domestic abuse is recognised as the public health issue it is. Every single victim deserves a compassionate and consistent first response - I look forward to sharing Gloucestershire's good practice with other forces.

Really grateful to @CommissionerDA for spending so long with the team in Gloucestershire yesterday and hearing about the great work our teams at @Glos_OPCC @Glos_Police @GlosCC @GDASS_ @TheNelsonTrust housing providers and are doing to support victims and tackle perpetrators

I’ve launched my strategy for 26-29. Guided by what survivors and others have told me, I'll be focusing on specialist services, health, policing and probation. I’ll use my role to drive accountability and systemic improvement for people experiencing DA. domesticabusecommissioner.uk/reports/domest…

It’s clear that the tagging system is not fit to protect DA survivors. Govt must move quickly to improve reliability before the early release of prisoners in September, or pause on any known perps being let out to ensure victim safety. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Very positive to see the expansion of Raneem's Law, putting domestic abuse specialists into 12 more 999 control rooms. This will help connect more victims and survivors with the right support when they call in an emergency. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Really welcome the introduction of new regulations which will help root abusers out the police, inc. automatic suspension if they’re charged with DA and dismissal if convicted. Police forces now need to act to root out perpetrators so victims can rebuild trust in the system.

Great to meet @NatalieFleetMP today to discuss the govt's plans to address domestic abuse and VAWG. I emphasised to her that DA must remain a top priority across every department - and momentum to act must not be lost - in order to better protect and support victim-survivors.
