President Trump with President Xi in Zhongnanhai: "I want to thank you very much. This has been an incredible visit. I think a lot of good has come of it. We've made some fantastic trade deals, great for both countries. He's a man I respect greatly. He's become really a fan. We've known each other now 11 years, almost 12 years, it's a long time. And we've settled a lot of different problems that other people wouldn't have been able to settle. And the relationship is a very strong one. We've really done some wonderful things, I believe. We did discuss Iran. We feel very similar in Iran. We want that to end. We don't want them to have a nuclear weapon. We want the straits open. We're closing it now. They closed it and we closed it on top of them. But we want the straits open. And we want them to get it ended because it's a crazy thing. They're a little bit crazy and it's no good, can't have it. They cannot have a nuclear weapon. But we discussed a lot of other things also and I think we're very much on a great move. We're going to have some further discussions now with the group. But I just want to thank President Xi and all of his representatives. We've become friendly with all of them, great people. And it's an honor to be here. We'll be back, I believe, on September 24th or thereabouts. And President Xi is going to be coming to the United States. And we will be reciprocal, like reciprocal trade. The visit will be reciprocal. We're going to lay it on the line and we're going to have – you're going to walk away hopefully very impressed, like I'm very impressed with China. And I just want to end by saying thank you very much. It's been really a great couple of days. Thank you very much."

China sent its heaviest hitters to welcome Trump. Here's who was in the room: * Cai Qi — Standing Committee member, effectively China's 5th most powerful man and Xi's chief of staff * Wang Yi — Foreign Minister and China's top diplomat, the man who runs Beijing's foreign policy * He Lifeng — Vice Premier overseeing commerce and finance, China's lead on trade talks with the U.S. * Dong Jun — Minister of National Defense * Zheng Shanjie — Head of the National Development and Reform Commission, China's top economic planning body * Lan Fo'an — Minister of Finance * Wang Wentao — Minister of Commerce * Ma Zhaoxu — Deputy Foreign Minister specifically in charge of U.S. diplomacy * Xie Feng — China's Ambassador to the United States * Cai Wei — Assistant Foreign Minister handling North America and Oceania This wasn't a courtesy welcome. Every person in that lineup owns a piece of the U.S.-China relationship. - @cnpoliwatch

The White House said President Trump will tour Beijing's Temple of Heaven with Chinese President Xi. A sprawling imperial complex heavy in symbolism, the UNESCO-listed monument is where Chinese emperors once prayed for abundant harvests reut.rs/434QK3v

BREAKING: Sen. Lindsey Graham unloads on Pakistan after reports claim the Middle East mediator allowed Iran to use their bases to park military aircraft. "I don't trust Pakistan as far as I can throw them. If they actually do have Iranian aircraft parked in Pakistan bases to protect Iranian military assets, that tells me we should be looking maybe for somebody else to mediate. No wonder this damn thing is going nowhere."

CONFLICT EXPLODES IN THE GULF Iran has just crossed the red line. In the last few hours, Tehran launched direct attacks against Kuwait, while the United Arab Emirates responds with force by counterattacking Iranian positions. Iran is playing with fire and is about to get burned. Kuwait confirmed that it shot down several Iranian drones violating its airspace. The Emirates neutralized drones over its territory and report new attack attempts against U.S. warships in the area. But here's the heavy hitter: the Emirates have become the first Gulf country to actively join U.S. and Israeli attacks against Iran, after receiving more than 2,800 Iranian drones and missiles in recent months—more than double that of any other country, including Israel. Iran decided to FAFO with the Gulf nations. And the Gulf is answering back. - @Jhonffonseca

“We know the regime is likely going to survive even if we return to combat operations, but we would want it to be so weakened that it's vulnerable to collapse.” - Retired Four-Star General Jack Keane (@gen_jackkeane) on next steps in the War with Iran.
