We are entering a different kind of economy. Artificial intelligence is not just changing how we work; it is changing which jobs exist at all. Many entry-level and junior positions the traditional starting point for young professionals are increasingly being automated, augmented, or eliminated. In this new reality, relying on a single source of income is becoming a significant risk. If you have only one job, your financial security is tied to one employer, one industry, and one decision that may be beyond your control. That is why I believe the conversation should shift from “How do I get a job?” to “How do I build multiple streams of value?” Having two income sources for example, a full-time role and a freelance skill, a business, consulting, content creation, or a digital service creates a stronger layer of protection. Having three is even better, because it gives you resilience when one source slows down or disappears. This is not about working yourself into exhaustion. It is about diversifying your economic survival in the same way investors diversify their portfolios. The most secure professionals of the AI era may not be those with the highest title, but those with multiple skills, multiple income streams, and the ability to adapt quickly. In the age of AI, job security is no longer just employment it is adaptability, ownership of skills, and diversified income.

Often at RWBuild we have unscripted chats like this. This day we opened up in the fun of making crazy predictions (and record it 😳😱). For those of us who get the privilege to build the future, we need to innovate - and predicting the future is just part of that! Products we talked about: - Grammarly (started using it around 2010 - writing improved) - Conversion.ai (rebranded into Jasper) - 2021/2 used it for marketing projects and events at RWBuild (it was not very useful or good) - copy.ai - also not very useful - chatGPT - used it from first day of launch. it was ok for writing and research, but only became impactful in 2024. Powers our investing research and email/ letter writing. - Perplextiy - currently, best tool for lookup facts and research. - Claud - by far has been and is the best for aiding software development and productivity. None of these tools really write for us at RWBuild, but they do clean our copy writing and fortmat writing well. For me, I can loose as much time as what I save, as AI often writes or correct something to be ‘wrong’. The future is moving fast and every year these products x2. It’s clear that these tools for most will completely do the work in documents, sheets, and design. It’s already replacing coding tasks. Record or high tax collections don't always mean a healthy or strong economy. It does mean that the government is getting better at tax collection.

Nick is one of the smartest founders I have seen. He doesn't like having layers of management. He believes in a small group of autonomous high-performing teams that own it. Same philosophy as @Rickard.

….That really is the divide right now - to have agency or not. Are you leaning in and using AI to be more powerful in what you do? Or are you using it as a cheat code? The future of any ‘job’ contains AI. How you use it like any tool will be a required skill.

Last week, we hosted the Rwanda AI Scaling Hub Community Convening — two days with the innovators, implementers, and government partners building AI solutions for Rwanda's national development priorities, safely and sustainably, and creating the evidence base to scale impact.

Founder closed a $15m Series A (top tier VC) and 6 months later, plans to return the cash to investors. Feels like long term, Claude will displace the product / erode the value. This is really happening, most people are not talking about it, it’s kinda wild.

Every profession has structured outputs AI can now generate. Most of their pitches: Find a profession where practitioners have cost X, and their product produces their output for a fraction of that cost - and it’s always on.

Startups pitching. AI isn’t a category, it’s the norm with 60% as AI-native, 26% is AI-enabled, and only 14% has no AI core features. The defining theme is “AI employees,” not copilots, not assistants. The pitch is always “we replace [expensive human role] end-to-end,”

CEO of Nvidia: "you're not going to lose your job to AI. you're going to lose your job to someone using AI." True: That one guy (more than likely that was your boss) who set up AI to replace you… and 4 others. And 3 others next month.
