We are teaming up with our local police officers for our upcoming Cram-A-Cruiser event, and our goal is simple: fill that police cruiser to the absolute brim with donations for The Compass Food Bank! 📅 Date: This Saturday, May 23rd ⏰ Time: 11:00A.M. – 2:00 P.M. 📍 Location: LOBLAWS (250 Lakeshore Road West, Port Credit, Mississauga) We will be providing shoppers with a list of our Most Needed Items right at the store! A Legacy of Love: Welcoming Our Founders Home 🏠❤️ Today was a true "full-circle" moment at The Compass. We were incredibly honored to welcome back three of our original founders: Dale, John, and Don for a tour of the space they helped dream into reality over 20 years ago. It all started when six local churches recognized a growing need to "help thy neighbour" with food. Walking through our doors today, the founders were moved to see how that seed of an idea has grown. "It’s not just a food bank; it’s a complex support system." That was the sentiment shared as they toured our market, kitchen, and outreach spaces. While they were heartened by our growth, they were also struck by the reality of the "overwhelming need" in our community today. The founders were particularly amazed by the sheer number of volunteers who keep this "complex system" running. To Dale, John, and Don: Thank you. Thank you for your vision, your faith, and your courage to start. Because you took that first step, thousands of our neighbors have found dignity, nourishment, and hope. A big thank you to the Sabapathee family and their company, CEP Innovations, for their incredible support This year, they created and branded our new folding red tote bags, helping us show up in the community in a meaningful way. Through the cost savings they generously provided on this project, the equivalent of 460 meals can now be redirected back into our community for individuals and families facing food insecurity and homelessness.
