@Cryptoguy777 Keep catching the Pals even if you already caught you! You get XP for catching them up to 5 times and it'll save you up some time later farming some early XP to get some saddles!

The hours have flown by like minutes. I’m officially hooked, but I know I’m making plenty of rookie mistakes and wasting time. Palworld veterans, help a noob out. What’s the one piece of early game advice you wish someone had told you?

Correct but the context quite matters, no? It's not the Palworld side who started this. The moment the game came out, Pokemon fans immediately started attacking. Palworld fans are just lashing right back to the attack. The level of vitriol from the Pokemon side far surpasses the one coming from the Palworld side too.

Look at all the Pokemon fans attacking anything Palworld related I've come to the realization that a lot of it is just bitterness and projection. They KNOW that the Pokemon games have been stagnating for years. They KNOW that it's been this way for years and they KNOW that the company is half-assing it on a tremendous scale. But they're stuck in a loop. Like in a particularly toxic abusive relationship, they keep repeating to themselves "Next one is going to be better. It HAS to be better. They'll give us a masterpiece!" and when that never happens... they just keep saying it to themselves, waiting for the next game. They've been at it for nearly a damn decade at this point! And so they lash out. They attack anything that reminds them of their sad situation and in this case, it's Palworld. The people who already jumped ship long ago had found it to have exactly what Pokemon was missing. Not the guns or the edgy stuff. But rather the sense of adventure and the atmosphere. Exploring this large new world with your Pals by your side, fighting right along with them or supporting them from the sidelines. Being able to just hop on your Pal and ride, fly or swim in any direction you want. To hang out in your base and cook using a Pal's fire or watch them take care of the crops that will feed you all, or carry around things, with so many Pals feeling just so unique and with a character with all the animations so many of them have. It's a bunch of these little things that combine together into an atmosphere that the Pokemon games severely lack. And these fans seethe and lash out at that because it didn't come from Pokemon. Someone else accomplished that and they see it as a personal affront. They attack every little thing they can latch onto, regardless of how petty and nonsensical it is, because the only way they can feel good about themselves is putting down anyone else who is having a better time... and they haven't had a good time in quite a while. Hilariously, quite a few of their 'critiques' can be easily applied right back to Pokemon. I've seen more than a few people call Palworld type chart 'bland, uninspired and boring' and at the same breath, say it was ripped off directly from Pokemon... but won't that mean that Pokemon's type chart is bland, uninspired and generic then if Palworld's is a 1 to 1 copy like they say? It's all pretty funny, honestly. They just throw childish tantrums, making themselves and their entire fandom look like idiots. Their only method of coping is to try making the other game look worse than their own because they don't even really have anything praiseworthy about the Pokemon games, now do they? I've not seen a single person that has been trying to elevate the Pokemon games, to show why and how they might be better or what they do better... because they know they don't have much, if anything at all, to show off. So instead, they desperately try to make the other side look worse. As I've said at the start, they're all aware that the last time Pokemon innovated anything was over 10 years ago and that the general quality of the games plummeted to the basement... but admitting to that is anathema to them. That's why they're so bitter. That's why they defend the games so vehemently, screaming at the whole world that it's the greatest thing in existence. Because if they don't... they feel like utter morons. And they're not going to stop doing it either for one simple reason. Because the next Pokemon game HAS to be good. It WILL be better. Everyone will see they're not idiots who throw money at a company that spits in their face. THIS TIME it's going to be different... And if it isn't... There's always the next one!

Funny how they always listen and end up doing the exact opposite. Also listening to redditors. It honestly explains a lot.

They brought monster-catching into the survival genre. Ark started the whole idea, but Palworld I'd say neatly improved everything about it. They added utility to the creatures outside of combat and even improved the combat ultility with the various abilities the Pals have, which on top of that also serves to make most if not all Pals memorable and somewhat uniquely useful. They all serve a purpose besides just being a checkmark on your dex. The amount of interaction it creates with the Pals themselves creates a very nice atmosphere of adventure about the whole game. And of course... it's actually fun! There. Now it's better? I mentioned Pokemon simply because it's pretty clear which side you're on, so it was more for your sake.

@Comrade_Del That’s a fair take but literally said without mentioning Pokemon. But that’s beside the point I’ve played palworld I have a decent chunk of hours into it. It’s got very glaring flaws and honestly if I was a youtuber id be making a video about it , cause its bad

@DKof6thHeaven You are absolutely correct. You can introduce literally anything and slap a Nintendo or Pokemon logo on it and they'll praise and defend it to the death, even if it's a dried turd.

@Comrade_Del The thing I know for a fact is that if Palword was the exact same game but called Pokeworld and made by Nintendo. These sad fanboys who take every opportunity to hate on Palword would be calling Pokeworld the greatest pokemon game ever made and hailing it as a 10/10

I can remind you of the latest Digimon game that came out like a year ago. The discourse was pretty much the same. It's a turn based monster capture game, far closer to what Pokemon is and it's done literally EVERYTHING better than Pokemon did. The Pokemon fans reacted in pretty much the same but unlike Palworld, Digimon is an established franchize that's been around for decades and they were shut down pretty quick and just quietly grumbled to themselves and moved on to easier targets like Palworld.

Palworld is the biggest target but to be honest, there's plenty of stuff doing things better/more interesting or more fun than Pokemon. At this point there are not only several "creature collecting" games out there but also fangames and romhacks that manage to deliver better stuff despite being "stuck" at Gen 3/4 graphics.

@EvilSmoo Yep yep, went on a catching spree. Trying to catch 5 of each to complete it in earnest now! Will have to do some breeding with a few since it'll genuinely save me some time but overall, I'm nearly done!

@Comrade_Del Getting 5 of each is worth it for the XP bonus. Also, if you're not going to condense, their worth to a pal merchant adds up pretty quickly. Butchering doesn't yield a huge amount though.

Pokemon fans forget how they behaved when the last Digimon game came out. Just like the games they worship so much, they follow the same formula just as much. They tried bringing the same "arguments" they do now but it's a lot harder to do to a long established franchize so they were quickly shut down.

@Comrade_Del You hit the nail on the head. They lash out at Palworld because it reminds them what Pokemon could've been. Hell even before Palworld the Pokemon fanbase would lash out at anyone critical of Pokemon just to feel vindicated of their purchase. Honestly the hate reeks of insecurity.

@Johnsonmarcjsj How is saying that Pokemon makes good spinoffs random hate? Don't be brainrotted and obtuse about it. Pokopia is a spinoff and was honestly pretty great for what it is. ZA follows the mainline formula and is a half-assed mess.

I mean, besides the game being a completely different genre that plays in an entirely different way... I don't think calling it a rip off is fair. Now if it played as any other Pokemon game? Yeah, I'd agree with you but that's not the case. The only core similarity is creatures that you can capture and use in battle.

@Comrade_Del @RenierPPorter I get why this would appeal to people but honestly to me the game will always feel like a rip off until it has its own distinction and feel, which could come with time but given the evidence so far I really doubt it. I do hope I’m wrong.

There are 287 Pals in the game. The detractors hyperfocus on the same 5-6 similar looking Pals and make it sounds like every single Pal in the game is like that. There are plenty original ones and honestly, even the similar ones make up for it with how they're implemented and their animations.

I do think they lose the uniqueness of it all tho with how similar and uninspiring the models are. They’re too close to Pokemon in my opinion (OPINION) and that ruins it for me

@quadrapuni Nah, I don't think it'll affect them. The merch sales are still gargantuan. It'll take at least a decade of Ls to affect those

@Comrade_Del You have a point, but probably not immediately. But if they kept on getting L's like this it would still affect them little by little.
