@guhlo Some of the flavors were great & super clean, could easily create powder versions too. Pretty sure amazon increasing their fees for heavy items (drinks) effed them plus bad distributors. Brand/product was solid

I heard an interview today about AI in creative spaces and the man being interviewed said “AI is data, and Data can only look backwards. Creativity looks forwards.” And I need to sit with that in the best possible way.

Someone needs to make a movie about Wemby the monk
NBA Base@TheNBABase

Victor Wembanyama had to eat high-protein meat meals inside a hidden sprinter van while training at the Shaolin Temple, per @ramonashelburne 😭 "But several times a day his team arranged for a sprinter van to pull into the monastery, pick up Wembanyama and drive him outside the walls of the temple, where someone would deliver a high-protein meal from a local restaurant. He would eat it inside the sprinter van, dispose of any remaining meat, then be driven back inside the temple." (espn.com/nba/story/_/id…)

🇯🇵 Tokyo from the mid 80s almost looks a dream but this is actually real. It's not AI but instead from Wim Wenders' "Tokyo-Ga" from 1985.

Sweetgreen $SG launched $10-$15 wraps.I pulled 11 years of viral restaurant launches across the price ladder. Snack Wrap $2.99 .... Placer +22% Day 2. Popeyes Sandwich $3.99 ....sold out in 15 days, +37.9% US comp, AUV $1.4M to $1.8M. Mexican Pizza $4.49 ....sold out in 12 days, Yum +8% comp. McRib $5-7 .... 4.8% monthly bump, gets pulled every time. Big Arch $8-12 ... Placer +2.2% one week, faded by week 2. Sweetgreen Wraps $10-$15 ....Q1 comp -12.8%. The pattern isn't subtle Chili's runs a full meal with a drink for $10.99 and prints +20% traffic, but it took almost 2 years of consistent marketing before it drove traffic Sweetgreen wants you to pay $13 in 2026 for a 2010 wrap This is not complicated
Mike Kudrna@MichaelKudrna

Why didn't Sweetgreen $SG management give hard data when asked? Probably because wraps are cannibalizing salads on the product mix instead of driving sustainable traffic gains outside of first time or lapsed customers trying it and saying it was good, but not worth paying $11 to $15 to come back often Meaning....any short-term boost will disappear in the long-term.

Brutal- Everlane was supposed to be the anti-SHEIN, now acquired by SHEIN for $100M It was a VC darling when it launched, raising from KP, Khosla, Maveron and others (~$145M raised) I think the bet was that consumers would pay more for ethical, sustainable basics, and that consumer may not really exist at venture scale. The low-end customer wants price. The high-end customer wants brand, taste, status. Everlane is kind of stuck in the middle. It sells “smart basics” at a premium, but I’m not sure people are willing to pay a significant premium for simple clothes over Quince, Uniqlo and Amazon. Maybe the real “radical transparency” was showing everyone how brutal fashion economics can be. Wonder what SHEIN does with it… Will they just make the same clothes in sweatshops now?

Matthew McConaughey once exiled himself from Hollywood and lived as Mateo in Peru for 22 days without electricity. “I needed to get my feet on the ground. So I click out. Boom. Go to Peru. I needed to find it, to check the validation. I knew I had it, I just had to go prove it again. But I did question, now that I just got famous, I’ve got all this affiliation for this and that and the other, and I’m trying to decipher which part’s real, which part’s bullsh*t... I needed to meet people who knew me as Mateo. And at the end of 22 days, the tears in their eyes and the tears in my eyes and the hugs we had on the sadness and happiness of saying goodbye were all based off of the man they met named Mateo, who had nothing to do with the celebrity. It reaffirmed my own identity that, ‘Oh, I still got it. This is based on me.’” (via "No Magic Pill" podcast) variety.com/2026/film/news…

Record labels have the data. If they choose not to spend on marketing, it’s likely because the data is telling them people don’t like the record. Many labels wait to see if there’s organic consumption before spending. That’s the game now.
Red Media@RedMedia_us

Lizzo calls out her label, Atlantic Records for sabotaging her and not properly promoting her music — I'm so tired of this sh't: ".. I don't know but I'm [crashing out] on my label right now because I just really like, I don't know. I feel like there's not any marketing money being put towards all of my ideas. Like I had an idea.I had a meeting. We had a meeting a month ago with like a bunch of incredible ideas. None of them have been implemented. I text them weekly things that I want to see done in the digital space and ideas and things. I want to make I don't see them get done. I don't see them and it's just I'm starting to really really really feel down about it because it's like I feel helpless. It's like what can I do? What more can I do? You know, I've been on TV. I've been like posting every f*cki*ng day. I be posting to the songs. I've shot two music videos put them out. I'm like damn like what the f*ck else do I need to do like right now? I'm literally coming up with ideas to like do more marketing but it's like in 2026 unless you're a brand new artist or somebody no one's ever heard of and is getting, you know, popping off finally like finally getting recognised is really (hard to cut the f*ck through like I am and it's like I have people who want to buy my album. But how they gonna buy it if they don't know if it's for sale and so it frustrates me."

A lot of large food companies release new products and they suck. I gotta say I’m impressed with Sweetgreen’s new wrap. Tried it for the first time today, 4 ingredients very clean and was a great lunch option. Although each wrap is like 1k calories but at least it’s healthy (I think) haha. Anyone else try them yet?

One of Michael Jackson’s producer, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins revealed that Michael Jackson didn’t like generic sounds. He recalled that while he and Michael Jackson were driving through New York City, they heard the sound of a crane coming down. Michael immediately told him to sample it. Rodney then had to head back to the studio to borrow a digital DAT recording machine, went back to the exact location, and recorded the sound. That level of attention to detail is impressive.
