Brigadier General Fidelis Satuku and Major General Herbert Chingono were quoted in leaked diplomatic cables dispatched in January 2010 criticising Constantino Chiwenga who at the time was their boss. The two described Chiwenga as a “political general” with “little practical military experience or expertise”. The remarks were made at secret meetings with the then US ambassador to Zimbabwe Charles Ray. According to the cable, Satuku and Chingono took time to explain to Ray the situation and dynamics in the military. They spoke about Chiwenga’s political ambitions, different views and opinions within the army, conditions of service, sanctions and politics. After Brigadier General Satuku passed away in 2021 a request was made to confer General Satuku with National Hero status but that request was blocked and vetoed by those who had a bone to chew with him even in his death. Meanwhile this time around Major General Hebert Chingono has been declared a National Hero but again would have been blocked from the same status by the same people who blocked General Satuku.

The fuel prices in Zimbabwe are not caused by the USA, Israel - Iran war. They are caused by greedy people among us. Billy Rautenbach needs to explain how Ethanol, which is a waste product from sugar production, gets to $1.10 per Litre. Ethanol is not made from crude oil. It is produced locally, and blending fuel is meant to reduce carbon dioxide concentration and to increase quantity, reducing the price of fuel, but in Zimbabwe, Ethanol is now costing more than petrolatum that is imported. Billy Rautenbach is driving inflation and causing the poor people to suffer. Transport prices went up and so will be goods and services. This must be stopped ASAP. #FuelPricesMustFall

I have seen the spirit of giving alive in the rural setting. People , who many on here, would call “Poor” , noticed this was our first year on the ground, so everyday we get gifts of Nyimo, Nzungu, Avocados, Mangos, Chibage… it’s very very humbling.
